In 2014–2015, the Society implemented the project “Counteracting the Soft Discrimination of Silesian Speakers” as part of the Citizens for Democracy programme, funded by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism.

The total value of the project amounted to PLN 188,760.00.

As part of the project: 5 promotional films were produced, along with 5 related photo sessions, the films were published on the Society’s website and social media as part of the advertising campaign “Poradzisz? Gŏdej!”, graphic materials based on the photographs were displayed on 63 billboards, 50 CityLights, and 5,000 A1 posters across Upper Silesia, from Opole to Bielsko.

The promotional videos were viewed 62,000 times on YouTube. Internet users also independently shared the videos on social media, where—by the end of the project—they had been viewed more than 200,000 times in total. Media partnerships were established with nine outlets: Gazeta Wyborcza (Katowice and Opole editions), TVS television, Radio Fest, Radio Silesia FM, Chorzowianin, the Silesia Kultura portal, Radio Doxa, Radio Opole, and Jaskółka Śląska.

As part of the project, sociological research was conducted twice (before and after the campaign) on a sample of 500 residents of Upper Silesia.

The findings showed that:

  • one-quarter fewer women than men use Silesian at work,
  • one-third more women than men declare that they do not teach, and do not intend to teach, Silesian to their children,
nearly twice as many women as men believe there is no need to teach Silesian at school,
  • one-fifth more women than men never speak Silesian with strangers,
  • two-thirds more women than men disagree with the statement that Silesian is appropriate for official administrative matters,
  • over one-quarter more women than men believe it is not appropriate for business matters,
  • half again as many women as men believe that Silesian is not an appropriate language for speaking with a small child.
